MoI Urges Cooperation in Protecting Children
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, September 9th 2013 [ME NewsWire]
In a statement to mark the start of the new school year and the return of children to schools, the Higher Committee for Child Protection at the Ministry of Interior urged cooperation in protecting children from dangers as per the directives of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. These directives exemplify HH’s commitment to ensuring that the UAE is a haven for civilization and a role model in the region in terms of protecting and securing children.
Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Child Protection, stressed the importance of communication between schools and families in realizing the objectives for security in educational systems. Major General Al Nuaimi expressed his best wishes to the students on the occasion of the new school year, urging everyone to continue efforts to develop the endeavors aimed to protect and educate students.
He emphasized the media’s role in achieving effective cooperation and promoting awareness among society and children in particular, as they face various challenges and risks in the current information age.
Al Nuaimi also requested that those in charge of the Child Protection Center at the Ministry of Interior propose a set of awareness-raising programs to coincide with the start of the new school year. Furthermore, he noted the importance of adopting smart and e-learning methods according to best practices; these methods would be in line with the intelligent education initiative to create a new learning environment in schools. “Our government believes that the new generations have the primary responsibility of achieving these aspirations. Our national responsibility is to prepare them for a new world that requires advanced skills, so they can be ready for it to benefit themselves and their community,” indicated Al Nuaimi.
Al Nuaimi concluded by underscoring the need to strengthen the work in all awareness-raising related fields in order to serve the coveted goals of child protection.
For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Al Shammari, Director of the Child Protection Center at the Ministry of Interior, stated that various child protection enablers, projects and initiatives will be launched next October within the “GITEX” week. He also stressed the attention devoted by the Secretary General and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Child Protection to the various child protection-related projects and initiatives.
