Dr. Syham Bentouati is the co-author of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) paper, “The Impact of Daily and Seasonal Cycles In Solar-Generated Steam On Oil Recovery.” Dr. Bentouati will present the findings of this study at the celebratory event marking the world’s first commercial solar EOR project at an oilfield in southern California, USA. Specifically designed for rugged oilfield environments by California-based GlassPoint, this is the only solar EOR project in operation worldwide.
Dr. Bentouati’s study concluded that solar generated steam could be a viable option for thermal EOR from a sub-surface point of view.
