ERCOM Provides Security For Android Terminals

To meet the security challenges posed by roaming and mobility, ERCOM launches the first total security solution for Android™ terminals to protect data, voice transmission and SMS.

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ERCOM, a specialist in telecommunications security, has enhanced its Cryptosmart technology to provide users of Android™ terminals with a high level of security. This security is based on a smartcard in microSD format to provide a strong security for the next generation of terminals.

Cryptosmart Mobile for Android™ answers the following challenges:

* Loss or theft of terminals: the data stored on the terminal are encrypted and access to the terminal is protected by a screen lock with a security code controlled by a secret key incorporated in the microSD smartcard.
* Malicious interception: the data flows (emails, intranet & internet access), SMS and voice communications are protected. Mutual authentication is putting in place.
* Network attack on the terminal: a firewall is installed on the terminal in order to block attacks and leaks from the terminal (Bluetooth, WIFI, IP ports, etc.)

The first terminal to be protected will be a smartphone which will be available at the end of the first quarter of 2011. This solution is designed to protect local data as well as data flows with IT centers of companies and governments. It will soon be interoperable with an extended range of devices (mobiles and tablets) and new functionalities (voice and SMS encryption ).
