ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, December 3rd 2013
As part of the celebrations marking the UAE’s 42nd National Day, the Law Respect Culture Bureau at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior had sponsored a law-themed mural project on the Abu Dhabi Corniche. The mural was designed to allow individuals to freely express their views and impressions on the law and its importance.
“This precious national occasion is an opportunity for everyone to express their love and allegiance to this country, its land, its leadership and its rules enacted to protect all residents,” said Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Salah Obeid Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Bureau. Adding further, he said: “The mural allows individuals to express their views with respect to the law and its importance in protecting both individuals and communities.”
Lt. Colonel Al Ghoul indicated that individuals’ views and opinions play an instrumental role in implanting and spreading the Law Respect Culture among all society members. “With time, the law respect culture concept becomes inherent in people’s minds; this ultimately prompts them to consciously apply it across all aspects of their daily lives,” he continued.
For her part, legal researcher Mariam Al Ahmadi noted that the Law Respect Culture Bureau highly appreciates individuals’ opinions and views. “We will conduct a research study to analyze the graffiti and paintings on the mural to assess the level of legal awareness of individuals and how they perceive the law respect concept,” She continued; adding that the simple rules that were established for the legal mural reinforce the principle concept that every individual has rights, guaranteed by the law.
