To implement Emergency Medicine Academic Programs

A
delegation of Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, headed by Major General Ahmed
Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations, discussed the
necessary mechanisms to complete the strategic partnership procedures
with Harvard University, Boston, United States of America, regarding the
implementation of the Emergency Medicine Academy’s programs of the
Police GHQ. The delegation also discussed the implementation of Harvard
fellowship programs and continuous education and development courses in
emergency medicine and services.
The parties also touched on
Harvard University’s participation in the Emergency Medicine Conference,
to be organized by the Abu Dhabi Police’s Directorate General of
Central operations with the University’s Faculty of Medicine this
upcoming December 8th in Abu Dhabi. They also discussed the possible
participation of a group of Harvard doctors in developing and building
the rehabilitation and trauma hospital planned to be built in the
Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The visit comes at the invitation of the
Emergency and Disaster Medicine Section at Harvard Medical School. It
also embodies the Police Leadership directives to keep abreast of the
latest scientific and international practices in the field of medicine
and emergency.
During the visit, the delegation members met the
Harvard University Disaster and Emergency Medicine Faculty at Harvard
University, as well as the CEO of the Emergency Medicine Department in
Boston. The delegation members were given an overview of the emergency
medicine services in Boston, and the available resources to strengthen
the strategic partnership with institutions that provide best procedural
and technical training practices, to develop emergency medicine and
first aid duties. The delegation was also briefed on the major systems
and techniques applied to ensure provision of services that enhance
health and save the lives of patients.
The visit included
reviewing the services provided by the Trauma Rehabilitation Hospital in
Boston, and procedures for receiving accident patients, as well as the
therapeutic services provided by the hospital crews, which is one of the
most important hospitals for trauma patient’s rehabilitation in the
world.
Furthermore, the delegation toured the simulation
laboratories used by Harvard University to train emergency medicine
crews. They were also briefed on the different phases of emergency crews
training in emergency medicine and disaster, and the importance of such
facilities in all stages of training.
The accompanying
delegation visited the Boston Police GHQ, and investigations sections,
at the invitation of the Boston Police Commander-in-Chief. Moreover, the
delegation was briefed on the services provided by the Boston police to
citizens.
