Abu Dhabi Police Form a Search and Rescue Team in Valleys and Flood-Hit Areas

The Emergency and Public Safety Department at the Directorate General of Central Operations of Abu Dhabi Police, has recently formed a specialized search and rescue team for valleys and flood-hit areas. This measure is a part of the department’s strategy aimed at enhancing performance and providing better services.  

Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harthi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, stressed the police leadership’s keenness to keep pace with developments in police work and to provide diverse services in all fields. He added that the newly formed team is a quality addition to Abu Dhabi Police in their quest to deliver distinguished services and to implement their vision to achieve a society that enjoys security and safety.

For his part, Colonel Mohammed Ibrahim Al Ameri, Head of the Emergency and Public Safety Department at Abu Dhabi Police, indicated that the new team has been provided with modern equipment and technologies; high-quality specialized inflatable boats that meet international standards, in order to carry out search and rescue operations in various geographical locations, especially in valleys, flood-hit areas, and torrential waters. He pointed out that the highly-skilled team consists of Emirati officers and constables who have undergone extensive specialized courses in the UAE and advanced courses abroad in the area of rescue diving; torrential waters rescue; and closed and confined spaces rescue (wells, tunnels and other confined spaces). He also confirmed the department’s keenness to qualify its human resources and develop their practical skills in order to achieve strategic objectives with high levels of efficiency.

Adding further, Colonel Al Ameri noted that the team carried out several practical and training drills in the field of search and rescue in valleys and flood-hit areas and completed the tasks and duties entrusted to them with efficiency that reflected the high level of readiness to handle such humanitarian tasks. It has also been universally adopted by international maritime rescue organizations in the field of search and rescue in valleys and torrential waters.

"الداخلية" تطلق الدبلوم المهني لمبادرة إعداد كادر وطني في حقوق الإنسان

أطلقت وزارة  الداخلية الدبلوم المهني لمبادرة إعداد كادر وطني متخصص في مجال حقوق الإنسان، في فعالية  نظمتها إدارة  حقوق الإنسان  بالوزارة،  وذلك في مقر مركز الخليج لدراسات الطيران بأبوظبي .

وشهد الفعالية  العميد أحمد محمد نخيرة، مدير إدارة حقوق الإنسان، بالأمانة العامة لمكتب سمو نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الداخلية .

وأوضح العقيد محمد علي الشحي، نائب مدير إدارة حقوق الإنسان في كلمة خلال الحفل،  أن المبادرة الوطنية  تتكون خطة تنفيذها  من أربع مراحل رئيسية، تم في الأولى فتح باب الترشيح لمنتسبي الوزارة للالتحاق بالمبادرة، وفي الثانية تم تقييم المرشحين وإجراء المقابلات الشخصية، تلا ذلك مرحلة التدريب التخصصي والتي يحصل الخريج بموجبه على دبلوم مهني في حقوق الانسان، أما الأخيرة فهي مرحلة التطبيق العملي وقياس النتائج، على فترتين، الأولى داخل الدولة تستمر لستة شهور، والثانية لمدة 3 شهور خارج الدولة.

وثمّن المستشار الدكتور خيري أحمد الكباش، الخبير في مجال حقوق الانسان مبادرة وزارة الداخلية؛  التي تأتي في إطار حرصها الواعي  لإنفاذ القانون ضمن منظومة الحفاظ على حقوق الانسان من خلال إعداد كوادر وطنية لإدارة ملف حقوق الانسان داخليا ودولياً، في اطار حرص الدولة  على احترام  حقوق الانسان وحرياته، دون تمييز بين البشر .

وقدم الشكر  إلى مركز الخليج لدراسات الطيران على جهوده في تنظيم الحفل، داعياً المتدربين المشاركين في المبادرة إلى المساهمة الفعالة والاستفادة منها، متمنياً لهم التوفيق والسداد.

MoI Launches Human Rights Professional Diploma to Qualify National Cadres

The Ministry of Interior hosted a ceremony to announce the launch of a Human Rights Professional Diploma initiative, which aims to prepare and qualify national cadres in human rights law and policies. The event, which was organized by the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Interior, took place at the Gulf Centre for Aviation Studies (GCAS) in Abu Dhabi.

Brigadier Ahmed Mohammed Nehkairah, Head of Human Rights Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior, attended the event.

In his speech during the ceremony, Colonel Mohammed Al Shehhi, Deputy Head of the Human Rights Department, said that the execution plan of the national initiative is composed of four major steps or phases. “In the first phase, the ministry of Interior’s staff members were invited to submit their applications for enrollment in the initiative. Candidates were evaluated and personal interviews were conducted in the second phase. The third phase included the specialized training according to which candidates are granted a professional diploma in Human Rights. The final and fourth phase , which includes practical implementation and results measurement, will be  divided into two parts: the first part will take place in the UAE during 6 months and the second part will take place abroad during 3 months,” he explained.

Advisor Dr. Khairy Ahmed Al Kabash, human rights expert, valued the Ministry of Interior’s initiative, which reflects its keenness to enforce the law while maintaining human rights. “The MoI has shown keen interest in qualifying skilled national staff to deal with all human rights issues locally and internationally, as per the UAE’s keenness to respect and ensure human rights and freedoms without discrimination.

Dr. Al Kabash extended his thanks to the Gulf Centre for Aviation Studies for the efforts exerted to organize the event. He called upon the trainees participating in the initiative to avail of this valuable initiative and make significant contributions, and wished everyone the best of luck.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Human Rights Department, has endeavored since 2014 to prepare and qualify national staff specialized in human rights, in order to empower them to deal with international and regional changes, as well as monitor international reports and determine the proper mechanisms to handle such reports and spread the human rights culture in the police community.
