Results of the Abu Dhabi Police 10th Athletics Championship

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, December 5th 2013 [ME NewsWire]

The Directorate General of Strategy and Performance at the General Secretariat of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior has announced the winners of the 10th Athletics Championship. It is noteworthy that the two-day Championship was organized by the Sports Activity Section at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development in Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, with the participation of 14 departments of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters. This competition is part of the sports activities program for the season 2013. The Directorate General of Police Operations in Abu Dhabi Police received the General Commander Shield. The Department of Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection won the Sports Excellence Shield, while the Western Regions Police Directorate obtained the Excellence Shield. The Successful Department Shield went to the Information Technology Department. Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General stressed that organizing such tournaments underscores the police leadership commitment to hold such activities. “They help boosting the efficiency of the Abu Dhabi Police staff members, interaction with one another and reviving the spirit of competition”, noted Al Dhaheri.

First Lt. Jamal Issa, Director of Sports Teams and Competitions;  Captain Salem Obaidallah of the Strategy Department; and Lieutenant Talal Al Mkhiti of the Sports Activity Department, honored the directorates that obtained the shields, first winning departments and top achievers within the 10th Athletics Championship.

The Department of Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection won the first place, followed by the Special Tasks Department and the Western Region Police Directorate ranking second and third respectively.

In terms of the individual competitions, Jamal Mohammed from the Emergency and Public Safety Department was ranked first in the shot put competition, while Ibrahim Al Matrooshi from the Western Region Police came in second place, followed by Mohammed Jumaa from the Department of Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection finished third.

In the Javelin throw competition, Ibrahim Al Matrooshi from the Western Region Police took first place. Saeed Khalfan from the Police Schools Department came second, and Mohammed Jumaa from the Department of Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection came third. In the high jump competition, Khalifa Abdullah from the Information Technology Department came first, while Jaber Mohammed from the Special Tasks Department and Abdullah Karam from the Emergency and Public Safety Department were in second and third places respectively. Furthermore, Rashid Mohammed from the Special Tasks Department came first in the long jump competition, while Khalaf Al Mesmari from the Information technology Department came second and Saaed Al Saadi from the Emergency and Public Safety Department third.

In the 3000-meter running race, Abdullah Al Lakiti from the Information Technology Department finished in first place. Mohammed Al Hassani from the Western Region Police Directorate came second and Abdul Rahman Ayat Al Hassan from the Special Tasks Department came third.  Ali Akida from the Special Tasks Department came first in the 100-meter running race, followed by Jumaa Al Kaabi, from the Department of Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection and Saeed Al Saadi from the Emergency and Public Safety Department were second and third respectively. In the 400-meter running race, Ahmed Darwish and Mohammed Al Hassani from the Western Region Police Directorate won the first and second places respectively followed by Saud Al Zaabi from the Department of Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection who finished third. Mohammed Al Hassani from the Western Region Police Directorate finished first in the 800-meter running race, while Saud Al Zaabi and Abdul Rahman Ayat Al Hussen from the Department of Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection came in second and third respectively.

In terms of Departments competition, the Police Schools Department’s team took first place. The Department of Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection’s team finished second, and the Department of Special Operations came third.
