ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, December 8th 2013
H.E. Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Shafar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, declared that the Ministry follows the directives set out by the country’s higher leadership. Accordingly, it places importance on the significance of innovation and its role in upgrading and developing services. His Excellency mentioned that the Ministry has creative personnel qualified enough to present solutions and alternative, modern options that can enhance the overall performance and achieve efficient strategic goals.
Al Shafar said that The Ministry of Interior believes that the creative abilities of staff members measure the success of any institution. According to Al Shafar, successful management believes in the ability of its employees, appreciates their work, and urges them to share their innovative ideas without restrictions. The Lt. General called on all parties to promote the spirit of cooperation, and allow the members of the Ministry to benefit from other people’s ideas and experiences that reinforce the ideas of development, creativity and uniqueness.
Al Shafar’s inaugural speech at the Ministry of Interior marked the beginning of the Innovation and Creativity Workshop, organized by the Complaints and Suggestions Department of the Strategy and Performance Development General Directorate on Sunday. The opening ceremony was attended by Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, along with the heads of divisions, various officers, as well as female police officers representing different general directorates and departments at the Ministry of Interior.
Al Shafar emphasized that creative thinking is crucial to the nation’s development and prosperity, stating that it is ultimately necessary to utilize various modern scientific procedures and advanced technologies to keep up in a world of continuous and rapid change.
The Lieutenant General added that the ever-changing times are paving the way to a faster, more comprehensive future. Machines and electronics will accomplish routine administrative work, and creativity will be exclusive to people alone. Thus, we are forced to reconsider and adapt creativity in a way that is complimentary to future scientific innovations and inventions.
Moving creative thinking towards being something that is demanded on a larger scale is what we currently aspire for, said Al Shafar. He also said that The Ministry of Interior looks forward to the participation of all staff members in different fields, and hopes that they show their creative capabilities and potential talents. Meanwhile, management officials are required to set forth a comfortable environment that enhances the sense of creativity among the staff personnel, clients, partners, suppliers, and community.
At the end of the speech, His Excellency expressed his hopes for success in achieving the aspirations set forth in the workshop. He extended his thanks to the organizers and participants and wished them the best of luck.
The first session included a brief presentation on the methodology of creative thinking, the role of leaders in encouraging innovation as a foundation of success in institutions, and the necessity of providing support and logistics to implement these ideas.
Another presentation shed light on the concept of innovation and creativity; defined creative individuals; and described the role of innovation in problem solving. The presentation touched on evaluating innovative ideas, their development and ways of usage. The participants received a questionnaire at the end of the session.
The Strategy and Performance Development General Directorate of the Ministry of Interior represented by the Complaints and Suggestions Department plans to organize similar workshops for all police sectors and divisions.
