Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Monday, November 10th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

Following the recent 15th anniversary celebrations for Dubai Internet City, and as part of a drive to promote innovation within the UAE, Majed Al Suwaidi recently met with Dr. Valery Tsepkalo, Director of Belarus Hi-Tech, to discuss the ICT sector and areas of mutual interest and potential collaboration going forward.

Belarus Hi-Tech Park, one of the world’s biggest software vendors, develops products that are used by leading global corporations including British Telecom, Peugeot, Coca Cola and Mitsubishi. Mr Al Suwaidi and Dr. Valery discussed the importance of supporting innovation in order to encourage a thriving ICT sector and a healthy entrepreneurial landscape, as well as the development of closer synergies between Dubai and Belarus to pioneer industry growth.

Dubai Internet City has played a major role in Dubai’s growth into a knowledge-economy and through recently announced initiatives including the Innovation Hub; a new development that will provide 1.6 million sq. ft. of dedicated space to around 15,000 knowledge and creative workers, will drive Dubai’s development into a global hub for innovation. This transition also involves working closely with similar business communities and developments worldwide to share knowledge and ideas.

Commenting, Majed Al Suwaidi said:

“Dubai’s ICT sector is thriving and, together with the UAE government, Dubai Internet City is working towards facilitating synergies to foster innovation, growth and development. I look forward to working closely together with Belarus Hi-Tech to collaborate and promote the development of a robust ICT sector, as well as Dubai’s transition into a global innovation hub.”
