Professor
Marty Linsky, from Harvard University commended the achievements and
the national and international awards obtained by the Ministry of
Interior, by achieving its operational objectives with excellence. These
achievements reflect the success of the vision, strategies and
objectives that were developed by the Ministry’s team.
These
comments were made during a lecture delivered by Professor Marty, under
the title: "The role of leaders in the ongoing process of institutional
development." The lecture was organized on Monday by the Leadership
Development and Creativity Center at the General Secretariat of His
Highness Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and took place at
the Decision-Making Support Center’s theatre hall at the Police
Departments Complex in Abu Dhabi.
The lecture was attended by
Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the
Ministry of the Interior for Resources and Support Services; Brigadier
Ali Mohammed bin Darwish, Director General of Human Resources at the
Ministry of Interior; Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri,
Strategy and Performance Development Director General, the General
Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Interior; Lieutenant Colonel Saif Al Dir’e, Director of the Leadership
Development and Creativity Center; along with heads of departments and a
number of police officers.
During the lecture, Professor Linsky
reviewed the role of leaders in supporting the institutional change and
development process, the effective ways of supporting the ongoing
process of organizational excellence through the effective means used in
resisting change, as well as the ways to motivate and encourage staff
members to participate in the change process through delegation and
empowerment.
Moreover, the lecturer tackled the importance of
organizational culture change, which comes in line with contemporary
challenges and problems facing the organization. Concluding, he provided
guidance for leaders and answered the audience’s questions and
inquiries.
It is worth mentioning that the lecture comes in line
with the Ministry of Interior's strategic approach regarding the
development of leadership competencies, and their impact on
institutional development within the security system of the UAE.
