Abu Dhabi Police Discusses Setting Knowledge Strategy

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, May 2nd 2014

The Abu Dhabi Police discussed setting knowledge strategy in a specialized workshop, organized recently by the Knowledge Center at the Strategy and Performance Development Department, in cooperation with Knowledge Higher Committee, at Holiday Inn Hotel Abu Dhabi.

The workshop was inaugurated by Colonel Sheikh Mohammad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director of Peripheral Regions Directorate and Chairman of the Knowledge Higher Committee. He confirmed that the strategy of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters focuses on elevating the strategic work standards and evolving the institutional performance to obtain achievements on the highest levels.

Major Khaled Hussein Al Khoury, Director of the Knowledge Center at the General Directorate of Strategy and Performance Development mentioned the special interest that the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters gave to knowledge and its exchange and development, explaining that this was represented by the adoption of the Knowledge Charter by the leaders.

He added: “Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters interest in knowledge management aims to participate in building knowledge-based economy to achieve the Government’s vision to be one of the best five governments in the world. It is also an embodiment of the importance of knowledge and its big role in building institutional excellence.”

Many presentations about knowledge were made. The presentations talked about the tools to collect and spread knowledge, and how to benefit from them. There was also a presentation about the achievements of knowledge management.

Major Nasser Al Nuaimi, Chief of Strategic Development Section at the Strategy and Performance Development Department gave a detailed explanation about the concepts and elements of strategic planning, and the strategic map of 2014-2018 to achieve the vision of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters to “Maintain Abu Dhabi as a secure and safe society, by providing high quality police services to the nationals, residents, and visitors of the emirate,” and to achieve the general frame of priorities and the explanation of the environmental analysis – definition of (SWOT) analysis.

He shed light on the stage of reviewing the strategic goal (initiatives – indicators) during which many suggested exercises were set to reach to the outlines of the knowledge strategy.

The workshop was attended by a number of Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters staff both officers and civilians, and knowledge coordinators at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters.

The Knowledge Center at the General Directorate of Strategy and Performance Development at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarter have recently launched the Knowledge Charter. It included the commitment of all leaderships and staff of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters to achieve the objectives of the strategy, by investing in information and knowledge, participating in transferring knowledge and experiences on all career levels in an embodiment of the concept of knowledge. It also included promoting the satisfaction of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters’ customers, partners and society, and to promote the confidence in the government as well.
