Major
General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Acting Assistant Undersecretary of the
Ministry of the Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports,
attended the “Leaders’ visions ... Achievement Makers” Forum, organized
by the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu
Dhabi, represented by the Al Ain Residency and Foreigners Affairs
Department. The “Oasis of Creativity” Exhibition was also organized on
the sidelines of the Forum, and was held at the Police Officers' Club in
Al Ain.
It
is noteworthy that the Forum coincides with the UAE achieving an
advanced ranking in this year’s Global Competitiveness Index Report
2013, issued by the International Institute of Management Development in
Switzerland. The report aims to measure States of the world’s ability
to promote innovation and knowledge.
The Forum was
attended by Brigadier Ghareeb Al Hosani, Director General of Ports and
Airports; along with the various Directors-General of Residency and
Foreigners Affairs in the state. Also attending were Colonel Khalifa
Matar Balquba' Al Humairi, Director of Al Ain Residency and Foreigners
Affairs Department, heads of local departments in Al Ain, and a large
number of officers from the Naturalization, Residency and Ports sector
and the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ.
The
Forum began with the UAE national anthem, followed by recitations from
the Holy Quran. Major General Al Khaili and attendance watched a short
documentary, showcasing the country’s leaders’ visions and aspirations
for the nation and its citizens. In this documentary, the leaders urged
the country’s men and women to work diligently to achieve excellence, as
work is the real criteria for patriotism, and it is their
responsibility to build this country and its future; maintain its gains;
and instill the faith to achieve excellence in all areas.
In
his speech on the occasion, Major General Al Khaili stated that the
achievements attained by the UAE have been possible thanks to the
efforts exerted by the higher leadership. These achievements were highly
praised in newspapers around the world, following the Swiss-based IMD’s
Global Competitiveness Index Report, which highlights the prominent
leading positions attained by the United Arab Emirates globally. “This
accomplishment is the fruit of the leaders’ visions, and the dedicated
sincere national efforts that made these achievements possible,” he
added.
Al
Khaili congratulated the higher leadership on the qualitative leap
achieved by the State in the global competitiveness race, which marks a
tremendous milestone in the UAE progress and development, and enhances
the spirit of building and belonging to the homeland.
He
stressed that the leaders’ support for this international achievement
is reflected in the well-advised initiatives, ambitious plans and
success-oriented positive energy towards further achievements. It
involves exerting more efforts; mobilizing and channeling energies and
capabilities to achieve the UAE’s vision of becoming the first country
globally, in all fields.
“In the UAE, we all work hand
in hand as one big family, thanks to the good values instilled in our
souls by His Highness, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, "God rest
his soul". Our leaders have followed in his footsteps and endeavored to
remain faithful to his approach, to achieve the vision, which seeks to
make the Emirati Family the first line of defense and solid community
pillar,” he continued. Moreover, he underscored that this endeavor has
come to fruition, when Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan,
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, was chosen as
‘Personality of the Year for Family Cohesion and Social Security’ by the
Arab Family Organization (AFO), organized in collaboration with the
Arab League, and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for
Western Asia (ESCWA). This Award embodies His Highness’s efforts in the
social and humanitarian fields, and his permanent support to build a
solid family, and maintain the social fabric to enhance cohesion and
social solidarity.
Concluding his speech, Major General
Al Khaili stressed that the State’s accomplishments make the people of
the UAE proud. He urged all community members to discharge the national
duties entrusted to them, and to exert every possible effort in all
areas of work, as per the leaders’ visions and aspirations.
For
his part, Colonel Khalifa Matar Balquba' Al Humairi, Director of Al Ain
Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department indicated that the
department has sought to organize this Forum, in keeping with the
Ministry of Interior’s most important strategic objectives, to develop
internal and external partnerships in the public interest. This also
embodies the department’s efforts to highlight the achievements
attained on all levels, thanks to the stability and security enjoyed by
the country, and made possible by the ministry’s objective to work
effectively, to make the UAE, one the world's most secure and safest in
the world. “This vision stems from the higher leadership’s strategic
goal, to support all efforts to achieve excellence and leadership at all
of security, social, economic, and knowledge-based levels,” he
concluded.
As part of the Forum, two sessions were
held. The first session showcased the country’s leadership vision to
achieve leadership and sustainable development for the UAE society, and
shed light on the IMD’s Global Competitiveness Index Report. Moreover,
Dr. Jamal Al Bah, Chairman of the Arab Family Organization, praised the
UAE for achieving the number one rank in social cohesion, values and
behaviors. He noted that this accomplishment comes as recognition for
the state, its leadership, and community members’ constant quest to
achieve social cohesion. It also aims to highlight the importance of
values and proper behavior in protecting the social fabric against the
increasing challenges, and to shed light on the heavy responsibilities
involved in the upbringing of today's generation, with a view to
maintain its continued adherence to societal, cultural and religious
values.
In the same context, Ali Al Nuaimi, Trade
Relations Department Director at the Department of Economic Development
in Abu Dhabi, gave an overview of the achievements that earned the UAE
the number one rank globally, and a distinguished position in the Index,
among economies that are based on creativity and innovation. He noted
that the UAE is characterized by its ability to maintain high wages
levels; to work as per a well-advised strategic plan to improve quality
of life and living standards; and to enhance its national companies’
ability to compete locally and globally through products and other
goods.
The second session highlighted the efforts
exerted by Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of Interior, and his community-based initiatives
to establish the rules of Social Security. Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Salah
Obeid Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Office, the General
Secretariat of His Highness Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior
lauded His Highness’s permanent support to build a solid family, and
maintain the social fabric to enhance cohesion and social solidarity.

Lt.
Colonel Al Ghoul underscored the constructive initiatives and
distinguished programs that were instrumental in raising social and
familial awareness in all areas. “This has contributed enhance the role
of the family, and consolidated its position as the nucleus of society
the main pillar of its stability, he added; praising the selection of
His Highness as ‘Personality of the Year for Family Cohesion and Social
Security’ by the Arab Family Organization (AFO).
Dr
Khalifa Al Suwaidi, from the UAE University, gave a presentation titled
"Family Affection", underscoring the importance of building a family
through sound education, as well as the importance of proper family
education in achieving familial stability and social cohesion, to
ultimately produce righteous and useful community members, qualified to
assume the role entrusted to them, to build society and contribute to
its development.
Attendees also took part in the
inauguration of the “Oasis of Creativity” Exhibition organized on the
sidelines of the Forum. This Exhibition comes in line with the strategic
initiative of the Creativity and Excellence Club, and is one of the
operational initiatives launched by the Directorate General of Residency
and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi, implemented by the Al Ain
Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department. It aims to reach the
strategic objective of investing in human resources, motivating staff to
exert their best efforts, as well as encouraging creativity and
innovation. The Exhibition included a wide display of handicrafts and
paintings made by Al Ain Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department
staff.
At the end of the Forum, Acting Assistant
Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior for Naturalization,
Residency and Ports, accompanied by Colonel Salem Qattam Al Zaabi,
Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi, and
Colonel Khalifa Matar Balquba' Al Humairi, Director of Al Ain Residency
and Foreigners Affairs Department, honored all participants who took
part in the Forum.
