Lecture at the Police College

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, February 3rd 2014

Major General Staff Dr. Obeid Al Kutbi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, highlighted the Higher Leadership’s commitment to developing and enhancing the quality of performance and bringing it to the highest standards, noting that it is not limited to job performance only; but includes applications, projects and sectors. “Development encompasses modern technologies and profits from knowledge, skills, and the secure transfer of technology,” he said.

Major General Al Kutbi gave a lecture on Sunday evening under the title, “Secure Transfer of Modern Technology”. The event was organized by the Police College as part of the cultural program addressing the 24th batch of candidates and undergraduates. Major General Al Kutbi stressed the importance of encouraging Emiratis to be innovative by leveraging modern technological tools and equipment to manufacture and reproduce personalized products, by ensuring a good combination with the production tools available in the UAE, in the industrial and economic sectors.

As he addressed the attendees, Major General Al Kutbi said, “The UAE’s government and leadership believe that ‘the word impossible does not exist in the UAE lexicon’. Difficulties, however complicated they may be, can always be overcome through faith, persistence and determination,” calling on everyone to remember this motto. He also added that the common goal is to maintain the security and stability of the country: “The Ministry of Interior operates according to the guidelines set by Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. It is committed to preparing qualified individuals that fulfill the tasks required of police officers, and providing them with modern academic and practical police training. The students are urged to get proper education, make use of the experiences and the expertise of the national leaders and benefit from training and knowledge regarding modern technologies.” Major General Al Kutbi highlighted the Higher Leadership’s attention to the welfare of citizens and to providing them with a decent life.

“We, in the UAE, believe in the need to take part in creating technology, not just importing it.  The leadership recognizes this vital aspect and continuously pursues the production and development of technology. Police officers not only protect the resources and gains of the country, they also take part in creating a better future for the communities they serve. They are always prepared to fulfill the tasks and responsibilities entrusted to them in the various fields of police work. This requires that graduates have special skills and demonstrate their ability to cope with the pressure that comes with police work.”

The lecture was attended by Brigadier General Abdul Rahman Al Naqbi, General Supervisor of Military Training at the Ministry of Interior; Colonel Saif Ali Al Kutbi, Police College Director; heads of departments and chiefs of sections at the Police College, along with a number of officers from the Police College, members of the training and education staff, instructors supervising the courses, and a number of other police officers.
