The
Police Sports Union Board of Directors has recently adopted its
activity plan for the upcoming season 2014/2015 and identified the
venues. The board also agreed to participate in the International Police
Futsal Championship, which will be held during the period from 15 to 22
August in Jordan.
The Board of Directors had recently
held a meeting headed by Major General Mohammed Khalfan Matar Al
Rumaithi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, and President
of the Police Sports Union; in the presence of Major General Mohammed
Saeed Al Marri, Deputy President of the Police Sports Union, all members
of the Union, and members of the board of directors at the Dubai Police
Officers Club.
Major General Al Rumaithi congratulated
the members for the success of the 2013/2014 sports season, extending
his thanks and appreciation to their concentrated and steady efforts
that contributed to the success of the Union’s competitions and
championships. He also praised the cooperation of all entities and their
keenness to organize the various sports events in a proper and
honorable way for the police sports at both internal and external
levels.
The Police Sports Union Board of Directors
extended its thanks and gratitude to the police leadership for its
unstinting and continuous support to the Union and sports in the police
in order to attain achievements at the local, Arabic, and international
levels; for their keenness to provide all means of success for the
Union’s events; and for the UAE police members’ presence in these
forums. The board also praised the unlimited cooperation with the
national institutions and unions in the UAE.
The
Technical committee headed by Brigadier Saleh Al Matroushi presented a
proposal for the Union’s activity plan for the upcoming season that was
approved by the board after assessing the Union’s activities and
contests; and where the committee focused on activities that directly
serve the police work, the police member’s health, and the attempt to
let the largest possible number of police staff members participate in
the Union’s activities.
The activity plan includes four
main sections: the activities of the police’s headquarters and general
directorates; the community-based sports events “the police and
community”; the sports events’ activities for the Ministry of Interior’s
staff members; and the self-defense activity for colleges, academies,
centers, and police schools across the country. The program also
includes establishing the Police Fitness and Challenge Tournament as
well as organizing sports weeks for each police general headquarter.
Moreover,
the board adopted the recommendations of the Technical Committee
regarding the outcome of the last season’s final meetings, which were
held at the Federal Police School at Sharjah along with representatives
of the police’s headquarters, general directorates, and the Permanent
Committee for developing Shooting Tournaments; which have established a
set of technical organizational points to develop the shooting
competitions for the next championship.
Furthermore,
the Board was briefed on the new formation of working committees at the
Arab Police Sporting Federation which was recently approved by the
Executive Office in Algeria. The board also commended the initiative of
the Arab Union for its decision to award certificates of appreciation to
the police’s champions in various Arab countries for their sports
achievements. It also decided to address the Arab Union for what the UAE
police’s champions have achieved at the Arab, GCC, and international
levels.
For his part, the Secretary General of the
Union gave a briefing about the results of the 3rd consultative meeting
for GCC Presidents of Police Sports Unions, which was held in June at
the General Secretariat in Riyadh.
The Board also
mandated the Technical Committee to follow-up and supervise the
International Police Futsal Championship which will be held in August in
Jordan as well as establishing the National Team's coaching staff and
setting its training and technical plan.
Concluding,
the board apologized for not being able to participate in the
International Police Beach Volleyball tournament in Brazil in November
and the Ice Hockey World Cup in the Czech Republic in April 2015.
